Naim Gulai Sembilang

Naim Gulai Sembilang is located on the way to Tanjong Dawai, Kedah. It serves Malay food. It is popular for Gulai Sembilang. The owner, Md Ibrahim and Zarina ventured into food business in 2005. Please click the link Gulai Sembilang Sungai Pial for more info on their business venture. Apart from that this restaurant is among the top five restaurant chosen by Utusan Malaysia, Selera Mingguan column. Please click the link Lima Restoran Pilihan- Selera Mingguan, Utusan

If you ask the local, they'll refer the restaurant to "Restoran Gulai Sembilang Sungai Pial" as it is situated in Sungai Pial, a few kilometers from Tanjong Dawai.

How do you get there? Find your way to UiTM Kedah. From there you straight ahead. You'll pass Merbok town, Singkir, and a T-junction that goes to Tanjong Jaga or Yan. Don't make any turns, go further up. You'll see a sign board, Sg Pial. Be on the look out for this signboard.

Look out for this big green signboard folks. It should be on your left.

Here comes the best part....the FOOD served.

My favorite, 'ikan tenggiri tiga rasa', What is unique is the ingredients in the dish. You'll find lots of cucumber,    ginger flower or torch ginger bud, pineapple and assam.

Then you can also have 'gulai ikan tenggiri' instead, if you're not into 'tiga rasa'. Gulai ikan tenggiri is served in claypot so it remains hot while you enjoy your food. Interestingly, the dish is prepared without coconut milk. The taste is superb! We had 'ikan bawal' instead since are already having 'ikan tenggiri tiga rasa'.

What else? We also tried 'ikan kembung sumbat'. All the ingredients prepared are their secret recipe. Well, some are not so secret anymore. Check out the picture below. Wouldn't you want to try this dish?

Finally, the famous 'gulai ikan sembilang'. Actually the 'gulai' is the same, they only add the type of fish that the customer wants. Again, served in claypot.

There are many other dishes...i'll upload later.
